Galene 0.8 is available by doing

  git clone -b galene-0.8 https://github.com/jech/galene

The main news in this version is native support for the WHIP protocol.
There's also support for passwords hashed using BCrypt (more secure but
more CPU-intensive than the default PBKDF2) and a number of minor fixes.

The switch to VP9 didn't work out, since there are some issues with VP9
congestion control that I haven't had the leisure to debug, so VP8 is
still the default codec.

  * Added a new configuration option "publicServer".
  * Implemented the WHIP protocol (draft-ietf-wich-whip).
  * Disabled simulcast on Firefox by default.
  * Removed support for protocol version 1 (used before version 0.7)
  * Worked around clients that don't set the VP9 and H.264 profiles.
  * Updated the activity detection code to work with newer browsers.
    Thanks to Jackson Vieira.
  * Constrained videos sent from a browser to use 4:3 aspect.
  * Implemented BCrypt as an alternate password encryption algorithm.
