Would you retain the logs for the whole execution of the program, tee the logs in real-time, re-read the file where the logs would have been written, get them from the service manager, or something else? Is there a noticeable performance impact on logging everything and letting the service manager handle the logging level? there's at least one big service manager on Linux that supports that if the logs are in syslog format. A distribution-provided service file could always enable all the logs from Galène and Pion and let the system administrator discard unwanted levels of logs. IMO Galène is fine as-is (it could log more), as all the parameters can be tuned outside of Galène. -- Antonin
